A lot of us have collections that are way bigger than our real shooting habits. If you were to focus only on the calibers you practice with regularly throughout the year, which ones would you pick? Share the firearms you use, how often you go shooting, and what you primarily use them for.

My favorite calibers are .22, .277, .30 and 6mm. Specific cartridges I like are the .22lr. the .22 K-Hornet, .270 Winchester, .277 Wolverine, the .30 Reece, .30/30 Winchester and the .30/30AI along with the .308. In the 6mm bore size I like the 6mm Remington, .243 Winchester and the 6mm JDJ, the little 6mm-.223 is a fun one as well.

I have a few others as well but those are the primary ones I shoot. I really enjoy shooting the specialty pistols and try to get together a couple times a year with a few good friends and spend the day shooting. The rest of the time is practice or load development. Reloading is a pretty serious hobby for me and I enjoy squeezing the last little bit of accuracy I can from my guns. I try to shoot every couple of weeks at a minimum. Sometimes I’ll shoot several days in a row. Most of my guns are capable hunting weapons but they are used more for recreational shooting. I probably fire 500 rounds at paper for every one I fire at game. The exception would be shotguns, which are probably closer to 5:1.

I started back in the 70's with Colt Gold Cup National Match 45ACP shooting IPSC. Still use 1911 45ACP for Tuesday night club match's. I use 9mm for IDPA and USPSA due to using close to 200 rounds per match, I hate to see that 45ACP brass left on the ground but I can pick up all the 9mm brass I will never need. I also shoot 1911 38 Supers.
Prairie Dog rifles are two 243's and a Swift. Deer is a pre 54 Model 70 lightweight in 30-06.

.22 Hornet, .222 Rem, .22 LR & .22 short, .223, .270, .45 ACP, etc. and my favorite traditional muzzle loaders (shotgun,s rifles, pistols). Most of my shooting's here on the farm. Troublesome critters, steel targets, and clay birds. Too many guns sitting in safes for years, no clubs nearby and all my old buds are ..dead. So .... mostly just a few kept handy when groundhogs, raccoons, possums, and rabbits become problems. On the rare occasions someone comes to hunt or shoot, we dig out other guns, but that's only a few days a year.

The ones I keep handy are all sighted in - modern rifles out to 380 yards, pistols at 50. Muzzle loaders vary according to caliber. Steyr Mannlicher .222, Remington "Mini Mauser"22 Hornet for groundhogs. Assorted pistols for various occasions. Live trapped problem critters get the .22 short HP's. Recently acquired a Glock 43 which is requiring a bit of practice to get used to, sighted in, and finding it's ammo preference.

Where do I begin?

Handguns: 45 Colt, 45 ACP, 44 Mag, 41 Mag are all interesting to me. A lot of bullet choices. Then there is 357/38. When loaded right, It's the GOAT in my opinion .

Rifles are pretty basic. 308. My MILSURP guns get a diet of standard spec ammo. Nothing fancy.

Then there are the 22 rims fires. I have both LR and magnum. All are useful to so.e degree.
