The most important piece of gun gear I own costs almost nothing

If you looked inside my range bag, you’d probably expect the expensive gear to matter most (Optics. Holsters. Lights or Fancy tools). But the thing I go through more than anything else is a stack of cleaning patches, it is not exactly exciting but still, those little squares get used constantly because maintenance is what actually keeps the equipment reliable. The glamorous gear gets all the attention online but the boring routine stuff is what keeps everything running when it matters.

There’s probably a lesson in that somewhere, the accessories are fun but the upkeep is what earns trust.

The bore snake changed everything for me...the fancy cleaning kits sit pretty but that little thing gets pulled out after every range trip.

Cleaning patches and decent solvent do more for long-term reliability than any optic or fancy accessory. It’s the unglamorous truth nobody likes to talk about.
