I still ride the slide forward on pistols sometimes instead of releasing it properly. I know it's wrong, I know it can cause malfunctions, but 15 years of doing it makes it stick. Old habits die hard, even when you know better. I am working on it, but muscle memory is stubborn.

Old habits really cling, mine show up at the worst times too. Muscle memory has a wicked sense of humor.

Funny how the wrong habit feels smooth and natural, while doing it right still feels awkward every single time

Old habits have tenure...your brain filed a complaint, hands replied “denied” and kept doing their thing anyway.

I used to do the exact same thing, you know, thumb over the slide instead of really slingshotting it back. It took one really crucial malfunction during a match to finally, and I mean finally get me to break that habit.

Even now, I still catch myself riding the slide forward sometimes. It seems fifteen years of bad habits don't die easy. It actually took one frustrating match malfunction to finally train that out of me.
