Just getting into ARs and shooting more in general. I've been tinkering with my first rifle and trying to figure out the ins and outs. The local range has been a solid place to start, but there's so much info out there. I figured I'd join and learn what I can. Hoping to hear some stories or tips from others who are also starting out.

One thing that was recommended to me when I was buying my first AR was to get a model designated as a .556.

The .556 will fire both .556 and .223 ammo.

The local Missouri Dept. of Conservation manned outdoor range offers training classes for "sporting rifles", free of charge.

Click on the 'Events' link to see all of the training offered. MDC may offer similar courses at other manned ranges or education centers.
Having the class at the range allows for classroom instruction and live fire on the range.
They have one scheduled for Thursday 8/7, but usually run that class once per quarter.
