Can you recall a home project that seemed simple but ended up being a complete nightmare?

I tried to change a light fixture but somehow I ended up breaking something in the wall. Ended up calling an electrician and it cost me $400 to fix what should have only been a $20 job.

I replaced the flush valve in our toilet a month or so ago. What should have been an easy 15 minute job turned into a 3 hour nightmare.

If you count injuries, Management & I qualify. I stuck a knife through my wrist picking peppers. Severed tendons & nerves in all four fingers. She fell off of a desk trying to clean a ceiling fan, striking her head on a metal filing cabinet. Surgeries & stitches pretty well define catastrophes. Minor events like seeing an unattended riding mower destroy a garage door or breaking a vise in two trying to pull a stuck cleaning rod from a muzzle loading rifle barrel? Uh ....just part of the adventure called "Life" in our house. .

Plumbing, no matter how simple it starts out, is always a nightmare of back and forth to get the correct part multiple times.

I try to make sure I get everything I need the first time I’m an hour drive from the closest plumbing supply. I actually usually buy extra since it’s easier to return the stuff when I make it back there.
