I want to tap into the community's knowledge about cold-weather storage. Which lubricants have you found to be effective in maintaining their performance and preventing corrosion? If you have any platform-specific notes, I’d love to hear those too!

I use a few different ones. For basic bolt action maintenance and storage in cold weather I like Kroil or Starrett instrument oil along with a little Sinclair or RIG grease for the lugs. The same stuff works well on most platforms. If I’m working on the AR platform then I use Break Free CLP exclusively.

After one particularly sluggish day at the range in the cold, I completely moved away from using any of the heavier stuff. EWL30, being a lighter oil, has just been a lot more consistent for me when those temperatures start to drop.

Good breakdown, interesting how you segment bolt guns and ARs with different lubrication strategies.

That matches what I’ve heard, lighter oils seem to stay more consistent as temps drop.

After reviewing tests I found this to be excellent
