I'm curious, what firearm do you keep near your bed at night? Do you have a favorite for home defense, and do you use any special setups like lights or safes?

This is a dangerous question considering possible robberies if some hacker knows what is available in one's home while away and being scoped out. BUT, I'll let one know through this message that Missouri having Castle Law, breakins will be carried out by the Coroner, as I WILL PROTECT my family.

I keep a 1911 on the nightstand, its purpose is to get me the 2 steps to my suppressed AR pistol chambered in .277 Wolverine. The AR has a Burris FF3 on it. I believe a suppressed fighting weapon is critical inside a dwelling. Having fired a Sig 365 in a closed stairwell once without hearing protection I can say it would have been pretty much impossible to hear an intruder for longer than it would take to get shot. I also have a 20” barreled shotgun in easy reach of the bedroom door but that would be a last resort indoors.

Para 45 expert carry. Gets me to my bump in the night boom stick 870 police magnum. Loaded with 1 ounce load of #4 buck @ 1200fps. Pretty sure if I have to fight way to the AR I've already lossed the fight.

Barking Basset Hound security system. Walther P22 and Glock 22, both with attached Glock lights. Never bedside. Beretta semi-auto riot gun and an AR hidden but handy. Most often-used "invader" medicine? A Remington 522 semi-auto loaded with stingers, for my most frequent "home invaders" have ringed tails or slick tails. Fresh batteries in GOOD flashlights scattered about the house are essential.

Home invasions (burglary of an occupied building) are the most-feared but among the least likely of crimes. chicken-killing varmints are my scourge. Dusk-to-dawn yard lights and motion detecting lights work well to both deter and identify what the dog's alerted to.
