Carry ammo

When I carry a revolver I typically load it up with a Keith style SWC. I prefer the heavier bullets cast pretty hard. Most of the time though I carry a 1911 loaded with HPs and a back up magazine with 230 grain ball.

Thanks guys. Can't go wrong with big hard ball and I have always read good things about Gold Dot. My thing is I'm old and have gotten very recoil sensitive. A 38 with WC's or a 380 semi auto are my pick now a days. A Glock 42, 380 I can handle, a Glock 43 9mm is pushing it. A 38 snubby in even standard velocity HP is pushing it. The same with 38 WC, I can handle. Just that heavier recoil cuts down considerably on range time. And even these get very touchy after several rounds. Always better to mostly hit where you aim. Thus, I prefer to carry what I can shoot reasonably well. Anyway, just wanted some possible input on WC for self defense.

WC is fine if that is what you shoot best. Plenty of folks carried it for years. Just remember it will not expand, so shot placement is everything.

For sure! I did purchase a S&W bodyguard 2.0 for very discrete carry, but it is small enough that recoil is certainly an attention getter for me. As cooler weather approaches it gets easier to carry a J frame OWB which is my favorite carry location. Thanks for the comments.
