Thread protectors

I’m pretty adamant about using thread protectors of some sort. All it takes is one bump to damage a thread enough to make it unusable. I’ve had to recut or “chase”threads many times. Sometimes the damage is fairly easy to fix but sometimes the damage is bad enough that it can’t be repaired.

You make a great point about how it's usually easier to prevent thread damage than to fix it. I've seen a lot of people learn that the hard way after a careless bump in the safe or while transporting their gear. It’s definitely not just a minor issue when you think about the cost and hassle of getting threads recut or, worse, having to replace the entire barrel. It’s a good reminder that investing in a cheap thread protector is always better than facing an expensive repair down the line.
