I came across an old william moore & co. 8 gauge double barrel, and that thing's a beast, it is not something you see every day, especially in decent shape. Makes me wonder how many of these are still around and actually shootable. Anybody here own or fired one of these monsters?

Not a lot of people are still using 8 gauge shotguns these days, but there are definitely some dedicated reloaders and collectors out there who keep that classic spirit alive. If you're thinking about actually firing one of these beauties, definitely swing by a skilled gunsmith first.

It's hard to pin down exactly, but they're pretty rare. Most of the ones that still exist are put in collections or sitting pretty in museums. Honestly, spotting one that's in good shape feels like finding a unicorn.

You rarely come across 8 gauge doubles these days. It’s like they’ve almost extinct compared to 10 and 12 gauges. William Moore really made some solid guns, so if yours is in good shape, you might just have a little gem on your hands.
