Hey everyone, I'm curious about what folding knives y'all are carrying these days. I’m in the market for something tough and practical. What do you recommend and why? If you've got pics, share them!

To me it depends on how you plan to use it. JMHO but I think the Buck 110 is the best folding knife ever made, but it isn't the lightest to carry or the easiest to open (quickly).
I carry a Civivi that is a mini multitool; one long knife blade and a second tool blade, but I don't think they make that model anymore. It keeps a great edge, and fits nicely in a pocket, but again, not the easiest to open.

Like Morgan said, you can't beat a good 110 Buck for toughness, but they can feel heavy. I nowadays like my S&W folder and been carrying it for going on 20+ years. While the blade is of old 440 steel, it sharpens easy is light to carry with its aluminum slabs. Not an assisted open design, it still serves me on the farm.
You can walk in to about any Farm/Home Center here in rural area and they'll have all kinds of knives from Buck, Case, Henry, Old Timer, SOG and knives of Chinese origin that come with plastic slabs in bright neon green, orange, black and maybe in purple to choose from. Even Buck is going bright plastic now if that's a choice you might want.

I really like my Buck 110, and also have a nice Solingen Germany made knife. For daily use, I have the very inexpensive Smith & Wesson knife (Chinese unfortunately). It's razor sharp, and has continued to hold it's edge.
You won't catch me anywhere without my Leatherman P4 Free. I use it constantly!

My edc is a Benchmade AFO 2 automatic.
The knives I consider "best" are customs from various makers and most of them I can't justify the cost but I do have a few folders by a gentleman named Ray Cover, unfortunately Ray is on the verge of retirement, he's been making knives for many years and he told me that his hands are simply worn out so when he finishes up the steel he has on hand that's it.

I carry a plain old Buck 442 folder. I have others including Benchmade, Spyderco, Cold steel, etc. but almost always end up back with the Buck. It's not the best, but it's easy to sharpen and if it ends up lost, I can replace it without shedding a tear.
I carry a Buck 112 on my belt and a Case Canoe in my pocket.
I am a HUGE fan of the Buck 110. Great knives.

The only thing better than a Buck 110 is 2 of them.

A Standard 110
A backup for the Standard 110
A Standard with Drop point 110
The AUTO version 110
Any version of the 110 Elite Pro
A 110 Sport Pro
A Buck Custom knife shop 110
At least 1 of them at Buck for the SPA treatment at any given time.
THEN...At a Minimum...
A S30V. 110
A MAGNACUT 110
A 5160. 110
440 Stainless. 110
425M Stainless. 110
Any with Fingergrooves
THEN....
Start collecting one of each time period from Pre-63 to 2025 including one of each 9 versions.
WITH SHEATHS I might add.

I don’t currently own a Buck 110, I like them and I own several other Buck knives including a 112 light, the 110’s little brother. My edc knife is a Benchmade AFO II, a pretty significant knife in its own right. After a Naval career I retired from in 1996 and safely navigating some of the most dangerous streets in the world and hunting Cape Buffalo in Tanzania, I’m also pretty sure I rate a man card.
Maybe in Tanzania....bu...bu...but, you're in 'Merica now bucko., where if ya' ain't got a Buck 110, ya' probably have "LOANER" stamped on your man card....
Fessin' up, I'm not carrying a 110 today either...Buck 284 which actually carries in town better than 110. Have several 110s, including Dad's well used 110 which I wouldn't part with for anything. Your chain is too short, pulls too easy.....indicative of lack of 'Merica man card.....
